Hi www
Randomly begun watching 'Lodge 49' on Amazon.. what did I think?
This had all the makings of a left-field Breaking Bad for the 2020's..but for some weird reason, someone is determined to make it into a sitcom.
This show should have been dark, except Wyatt Russell.. the darker his setting the brighter his optimism would have shone.
Why keep the ethereal at arms length?*
Why do we have to endure 'Super Sales'.. Super Sales is fluff.. annoying fluff at that. This is a wannabe sitcom section.. no.. this show should have been gritty like Breaking Bad.. AMC who made both shows.. seems to inadvertently/unintentionally.. used similar directors.. even using the same (expensive) cinematography on both shows..why on earth are they wasting this talent on a weird sitcom..this show so badly *wants* to be Breaking Bad meets As Above, So Below (movie 2014).. it *wants* to be dark and epic..If there is to be a season 3.. the producers/writers need to lean into that.
The main cast are talented actors/actresses.. everything is right there! Except the dialogue.. that is a 'friends wannabe show'.. plot points are great! dialogue doesn't fit the plot points..
AMC have a good habit of finding and nurturing hit shows.. and yet again they have all the ingredients here.. but one element too many..
What should this show be?
A gritty and dark take on the fantastical.. what Breaking Bad was to chemistry.. Lodge 49 should be to alchemy.
There's a hit show with 8 to 10 seasons sitting under all that sitcom fluff.. just waiting to transmute into its truest self.
Dava
*As Above, So Below.. why can't the characters get accidentally trapped in an underverse/Purgatory?
